Shark Tank Business Valuation and Negotiation Lessons Paper Box Pilots, Reviver, Table Jack, Fun Cakes & Screenmend

Paper Box Pilots on Amazon.comYoung entrepreneurs are a hit on Shark Tank, so prepare yourself for an upbeat segment on the show for the pitch from Noah Cahoon.  Kids can play make believe with all sorts items, not just store bought toys, so enter the Cahoon family who created a fun sticker kit designed for use with paper and cardboard boxes.  Converting a cardboard box into a fun make believe toy like an airplane, fire truck or race car is a lot easier and more fun when it includes some cool decorations.  The business that Noah Cahoon is the face of is called Paper Box Pilots.  There are three separate Paper Box Pilots sticker kits, a fire truck, race car and an airplane.  No boxes are included with the kit, so that has to be provided by the customer, which is easy for those people who shop online and have products delivered to them.  The Paper Box Pilots business is based in Utah.  Expect Barbara Corcoran to be interested in this business.  Even Lori Greiner might be in on Paper Box Pilots, but in her case, ONLY if the sales are already well established, or if she GETS a large equity stake in the business.

Reviver on Amazon.comFor people on the go, especially in climates or environments that are warm, clothes can pick up odors that are not pleasant.  Sometimes, it can be a smoky environment, such as a bar or restaurant, or a smelly place like a gas station or factory.  When on the go throughout a day, having a smell cling to clothing can be a real issue.  Attempting to solve that problem is Reviver.  Ben Kusin and Eric Kusin are the founders of Reviver.  Revivers are dry compact cloths that can be swiped over clothing and hair to neutralize odors.  Revivers are disposable, lasting up to 10 uses.  The Kusins also offer a line of Revivers that have added pheremones to do whatever pheremones are claimed to do, which is arouse interest in those coming into close proximity to the bearer of the pheremones scent!  Reviver packs are small enough to fit into a purse or pocket.  Revivers have received major exposure on national television before and in published media, so expect sales to be significant.

Table Jack on Amazon.comAn enjoyable restaurant experience involves a lot of factors, one of which is the experience with the dining table.  Wobbly tables are, at the minimum, an annoyance, and can be even worse if they lead to spills and messes.  Steve Christian, a longtime restaurant owner, had been annoyed by the problem over the years.  HE set out to create his own solution.  He calls his product the Table Jack.  Table Jacks are unique product he created that can be installed on a table that is wobbly, or even before it becomes wobbly.  As an added convenience, the Table Jacks can be activated with a foot, so a server or waiter doesn’t have to use hands to touch the table.  This helps keep hands clean, which are important for wait staff at a restaurant.  Table Jack is a patented product, and is used in many restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings.  Christian sells his Table Jacks via distributors such as a Sysco foods, so lets see what he needs an investment.  Sales should be good, given that he has distribution with major distributors.

Screenmend on Amazon.com

Getting the Shark Tank update segment is the Hook family, Brian Hook and his daughters, Lily and Emma.  Screenmend is a product that is a simple solution to fixing damaged window screens. The simple solution involves using wax, which helps affix their patch to the window screen.  They discovered their invention by accident when they were trying to remove wax from a window screen they had, and they had a tough time removing the wax.  The light bulb went off, use wax as the adhesive to keep their patch in place.  Lori Greiner proclaimed the screen patch a hero, so she made a deal, but not before using her negotiating savvy to drive a good deal.

Fun Cakes WebsitePlanning weddings can be stressful and expensive, as every detail matters.  Finding ways to get maximum bang for your buck means making choices that involve sacrifices, such as how much to spend on the wedding dress, the venue, catered food, and the wedding cake.  Well, as fancy wedding cakes can be very expensive, Fun Cakes, a business based in Michigan has alternative that allows for the best of both worlds.  With a cake from Fun Cakes, the wedding party can have a very fancy wedding cake, at a bare minimum price.  How this works is the fancy cake is a decorative cake that has a small edible section that can be used for the cake cutting ceremony.  The rest of the cake is a display cake that is not edible, so what happens is that there are regular sheet cakes that are cut up and served to guests.  So Fun Cakes offers a rental cake, that is the fancy display cake shown at the wedding that is returned to the company after the wedding is over.  The net cost of a rental cake from Fun Cakes can be as low as $100 plus the cost the sheet cakes used to serve the guests.  A money saving idea for sure.  Fun Cakes are shipped throughout the United States.   Fun Cakes have received major exposure on national television before and in published media, so this could be a situation where there are good established sales revenues already.
